What Mettā means
and how the brand began
The word mettā comes from Pali and means loving-kindness. It is the practice of treating yourself and others with care and goodwill.
I wanted the name to express the meaning behind the jewelry: attention to the person, their personal intention, and a kind wish that stays with them every day.

HOW IT ALL BEGAN
I have always loved things
with meaning.
Jewelry has never been just an addition to an outfit for me. I brought pieces home from different countries, received them as gifts from people close to me, and wore them at important moments. I have always loved the idea that an object can mean something: hold a memory, be connected to a wish, or bring you back to a state you do not want to lose.
Perhaps that is why the story of Metta began long before I ever thought of creating the brand.
Ten years ago, I came to Bali for the first time and almost immediately felt at home. Over time, I began to explore the island’s spiritual culture more deeply, speak with priests, and take part in local rituals.
During one of those ceremonies, the jewelry I was wearing became part of the ceremony. A priestess performed a separate ritual for the pieces, and afterwards I put them back on — now blessed.
At the time, I never thought I would return to this idea. But years later, I remembered that moment and realized: this is exactly how I had always wanted jewelry to be — beautiful objects with something personal behind them.
That is how Metta came to be.
